Spicy Winter Cookies

If you are looking for a cookie that is gooey, chocolatey, and different then these cookies are for you. They melt in the mouth and are for those chocolate lovers who need a sweet snack throughout the day. The secret kick? Ground red pepper and cinnamon give this cookie a nice warm and spicy flavor. Not the average chocolate cookie at all. To give this cookie a crunch and sweetness with a coating of sugar.

Ingredients:

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

¼ cup cocoa powder

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

½ teaspoon himylanian salt

¼ teaspoon ground red pepper

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ cup salted butter, room temperature

1 cup dark brown sugar

1 large egg, room temperature

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 bag, 12 oz, semisweet chocolate morsels

¼ cup cane sugar


Steps:

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degree F. in a medium bowl whisk together flour, cocoa powder, cinnamon, salt, red pepper, and baking soda.

  2. In a large bowl with an electric mixer beat together butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Beat in egg and vanilla until well combined. Reduce to low speed and add flour mixture until combined.

  4. Add in chocolate morsels by hand until well incorporated.

  5. Scoop dough and roll into balls, gently roll in sugar to coat entire dough, and place on parchment-lined baking sheets.

  6. Bake for 14 minutes, rotating halfway through.

  7. Allow to cool after taking out the oven then move cookies to cooling racks.
